Very few actors can say they’ve appeared in arthouse films as much as blockbusters, and have been equally successful in both. Swedish actor Max von Sydow is one of them.
A favorite of director Ingmar Bergman, with whom he collaborated on 11 films, this screen giant – we mean that literally, he’s 6’4” – has appeared in more than a hundred films and television shows. His blockbusters? The Exorcist, in which he played tormented priest Father Lankester Merrin, to name one. More recent ones are Star Wars: The Force Awakens on film and Game of Thrones on TV, and at 89, he has lots more work lined up.
