Stand-up comic Jackie Mason’s unique brand of humor – deeply inspired by his Jewish identity – was highly influential in the comedy circuit, as his attitude won him a multitude of fans, as well as got him into some hot water once when he was accused of giving legendary variety show host Ed Sullivan a rude gesture.
Mason’s 1986 one-man show The World According to Me was incredibly successful, and won him both an Emmy and a Tony, as well as a nomination for a Grammy. He was still acting as recently as 2011, and still voices Krusty the Clown’s father Hyman on The Simpsons every so often.
