The Addams Family is a generational test – upon hearing the iconic macabre family’s name, younger viewers immediately think of the films released in the 1990s, and Raúl Juliá’s wonderful performance as the family’s patriarch Gomez.
Older viewers, however, go right back to the original – the 1960s television series, which starred Astin in the Gomez role. He took on another famous character for the campy television adaptation of Batman, this time playing the Riddler, and had more memorable roles later, such as in St. Elsewhere. He’s another golden ager still involved with voice work, having contributed to the animated Justice League Action TV show just last year.
