[post_page_title]James Hong – 89 years old[/post_page_title]
This veteran character actor has been active since the mid-fifties, playing a whole host of roles fitting of his ethnic background in both film and television, which is ironic since he’s really from the Midwest – Minneapolis, actually.
His two earliest famous roles had him playing a good guy, followed by a villain – butler Kahn in Chinatown and then evil sorcerer Lo Pan in Big Trouble in Little China. Hong’s distinctive voice also made several appearances of its own, like imperial adviser Chi-Fu in Mulan and Mr. Ping in Kung Fu Panda. He’s far from done, and at 89 still has multiple projects in the can for 2018.
