Larisa Latynina is an Olympian for life. For 48 years, until Michael Phelps surpassed her in 2012, she was the world record holder for the most Olympic gold medal with 18. Latynina won 14 individual medals and four all-around team medals.

When she retired from gymnastics, Larisa signed on to the coach the Soviet Union’s Women’s Gymnastics team. She led the Soviet ladies to Olympic gold in the 1968, 1972 and 1976 Games. Today, the prized athlete and pride of the former Soviet Union lives in Semenovskoye, Russia.
