Michael Phelps has made his way into the record books as not just one of the greatest American swimmers in the world, but as one of the most decorated Olympians of all time. Phelps holds 28 medals, with 23 of them being gold. The swimmer came out of retirement for the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio, after being antagonized by a sports rival, Chad Le Clos.
Phelps had claimed to take his final dive after the London 2012 games but as we saw last year, he took top prize in Brazil as expected to. Now, officially retired at the age of 31, Michael has taken up golf and is spending most of his free time with his family. When Forbes asked about ending his career for the second and last time, Phelps simply stated “To be honest, It’s not that hard. I’ve been in this sport for 24 years.”
