George Foreman took up boxing at young age won the 1968 Mexico City Summer Olympics as the heavyweight champion. He became a part of the World Boxing Hall of Fame as well as the International Boxing Hall of Fame.

He retired in 1977 and became the official spokesperson for the fat-reducing George Foreman Grill. In 1999 Salton, Inc. paid him $137 million to use his name and also made 40% of the profits from each grill.
