Michelle Kwan is an olympic figure skater. Her parents are immigrants from Hong Kong, and Michelle started skating at the young age of five. She quickly won her first figure skating competition within her first year of skating.

She came in eighth place in the 1994 World Championships at the age of only 13, and was an alternate for the 1994 Olympics. In 1998, she competed in the Nagano Olympics and won the silver medal. In 2002, she did not win, and she tried again on the 2006 Olympics but due to a strained groin had no choice but to withdraw.
