Shawn Johnson’s parents enrolled her in gymnastics at the age of three. Liang Chow, her instructor saw her great potential and encouraged her to train until she could compete in the 2008 Olympics, in which she won four medals in Beijing, China.

She took a gold medal on the women’s balance beam, and three silver for women’s gymnastics team. In 2010, she was planning on winning more Olympic medals, but she tore her ACL while skiing and had to retire from competitive gymnastics.
