Cathy Freeman was the first indigenous female to place in The Commonwealth Games and ten medals underneath her Olympian belt. Cathy’s specialty event was the 400-meter.
She won her first gold medal in the 2000 Olympic Games and retired in 2003 to spend time with her husband a daughter. Freeman founded the Cathy Freeman Association and the Indigenous Education Foundation and as an ambassador for Cottage By The Sea, helping needy children.
