Paavo Nurmi is a memorable Olympian athlete. He never turned professional but did snag nine gold medals and three silver medals throughout the 12 Olympic Games he participated in. He was nicknamed “The Flying Finn” for his talents in long-distance running and was undefeated in 800m for 121 consecutive races.
