Jim Carrey was considered for the role of Edward Scissorhands himself. However, because Carrey was more of a comedic actor, he would have taken the role to a totally different place than the eventual Edward Scissorhands actor, Johnny Depp.
It’s a good thing he didn’t get the job in the end, it would have taken Carrey’s career down a very different path than the one he took – making us laugh to the point of pain, that only he knows how to do.
