Ray Liotta was the perfect type to play Tony Soprano in the HBO show, The Sopranos; which is why it was offered to him. However, Ray passed on the role in order to focus on his movie career.
The part ultimately went to James Gandolfini, who made Tony Soprano a character to fear and love at the same time. The HBO series because one of the greatest shows in television history. Liotta missed out big time on this one!
