Perhaps slightly insensitive, but Mark Wahlberg turned down the role of Ennis Del Mar in the film, Brokeback Mountain because he was ‘creeped out’ by the sensational nature of the script, which was about a same gender relationship between two cowboys.
While his comment was unnecessary, the role ended up going to Heath Ledger. Heath was the perfect actor for the role, as his depth and ability to get into the character couldn’t be compared to anyone else’s attempt.
