Paul Giamatti was already a big name actor when he was tapped to play the lead role of Michael Scott on the American version of the British TV show “The Office.” However, he turned down this role, giving the relatively unknown Steve Carell a chance to shine, which he most certainly did.
Giamatti was always cast as a strong leader with a good head, so people don’t know if he could have pulled off the “dumb guy” character of Michael Scott.
