Almost Famous is the story of a wiley 15 year old boy who convinces music magazine Rolling Stone to let him write for them. The magazine gives the kid an assignment, and in the process becomes friends with the lead guitarists of one of the bands.
The role of that lead guitarist, named Russell Hammond, was written with Brad Pitt in mind. However, after reading the script, Pitt decided not to play the part because he simply didn’t understand the role.
