Using his cruise company, Virgin Voyages, this time, the businessman and entrepreneur decided to create a once-in-a-lifetime expedition. Taking inspiration from Cousteau’s 1971 voyage, Branson decided he would complete the Frenchman’s work.
While Cousteau was left to rely on scuba gear that had become prehistoric by today’s standards, Branson envisioned the first ever submersible voyage to the bottom of the Great Blue Hole. In December, 2018, that vision became a reality, and Branson inserted himself into the new project’s exploration team. But he wouldn’t be going alone.
