For Richard Branson, eliminating disposable, single-use plastics for good has become his life’s work. His aforementioned cruise line has already eradicated them, but he has far more ambitious plans. His new project is Ocean Unite, which aims to establish marine natural reserves, where mining and fishing will be prohibited.
His motivation, while simple, was touching. “My grandchildren will be in their thirties by 2050,” he revealed. “I don’t want them to grow up in a world without corals, without the wonders of the ocean.” He was in it for his own grandchildren – and everyone else’s.
