Apart from the submersibles, the project was also accompanied by two scientific vessels, which stayed topside and collated data received from the subs down below. With all the data collected during the expedition, researchers were able to construct the first ever three-dimensional model of the Great Blue Hole.
Just as they were able to see farther by standing on the shoulders of giants, and Cousteau’s prior expedition, so too will future expeditions make use of the model they created to better understand this natural wonder.
