A National Geographic Explorer and engineer, Bergman was described by Branson as “very calm and experienced, with an enormous enthusiasm for the ocean.” She could actually live underwater, he joked. For the last person to join the crew, Branson looked to none other than Fabien Cousteau, Jacques’ grandson and a world-renowned marine explorer in his own right, thus bringing things full circle.
