Branson’s first foray into aquatic exploration ended up being doomed, sadly, but it was definitely ambitious. Dubbing it the Virgin Oceanic project, Branson wanted to fund private submarine expeditions to map out the farther regions of our planet’s oceans.
Three years later, unfortunately, the entire project was crapped due to safety concerns. Undeterred, the idea had never left Branson’s head. It only germinated there, until late 2018, when it was time for it to finally bloom. This time, he would not fail.
