If you look at the entryways to the pyramids of Giza, you can see that there was once space for a giant block of stone. That block of stone was actually the door to the pyramid, and it was an engineering marvel.
The door would have weighed several tons in order to protect the pyramid from intruders, but when unlocked, there is evidence to suggest that it was on a hinge that would have made opening the door a piece of cake!
