[post_page_title]Then: Phil Foster[/post_page_title]
Phil Foster attained his role on Laverne & Shirley after he was asked to appear on The Odd Couple. While he was living in Fort Lee, New Jersey, he became a comedy writer for high-profile Hollywood entertainers such as Joe Bishop. On Laverne & Shirley, he played Frank DeFazio, the single father of Laverne. In the show, he runs The Pizza Bowl and acts as an overprotective father to Shirley in the absence of her immediate family who is far away. The character naturally lost his temper from time to time, but it was important for producers to often exemplify his heart of gold.
