After her big win in 1993 when she won an Academy Award for Best Supporting Actress, many rumors were going around whether or not Marisa had received the award by mistake. Many people in the entertainment industry claim that Marisa’s name was called by mistake by the presenter at the time, Jack Palance. Marisa was nominated for her role in My Cousin Vinny. The biggest rumor surrounding the 1993 Oscars was that the presenter had called her name because her name was the last one on the nominee list when Palance was reading off of the teleprompter.
