During an interview with his longtime friend Jada Pinkett Smith, Millan revealed more details about his childhood. Growing up poor in Mexico, he wanted to become a vet, but his family simply couldn’t afford to send him to veterinary school.
His original dream, however, was supposedly becoming a dealer of illegal substances – that’s what he told his mom he wanted to be when he was ten because where he grew up, those people were “role models.” Poverty, he concluded, makes you strong, an assertion Pinkett Smith wholeheartedly agreed with.
