Inching forward slightly, there are certain Amish communities that allow the women to dress in brighter colors and use softer fabrics. This may seem like little or no difference for any modern person, but for the Amish community it is a huge advance.
Bright colors are by nature attractive to the eye, making the concept of vanity and modesty go slightly awry. Not sure how long that trend is going to hang on for, we can’t imagine the Amish agreeing to anything that can put their way of life in jeopardy.
