Communal meals are a daily occurrence in the Amish community, and one that cannot be missed unless ill. Their dinner time is considered a time to relax and enjoy one another’s company after a long, hard day out on the fields.
They all sit together beside a long table, of their own making of course, and do what we today call a ‘potluck’, everyone brings something to the table in contribution.
