After the eighth grade, boys and girls stop going to school and begin their roles in Amish society, by that age they are considered adults. The men are to work in the labor department of the community, fields, iron working, and cattle rearing.
On the other hand, the women are to take care of children and their homes, by way of cleaning, cooking and baking, and making sure everything runs smoothly.
