The blonde beauty played Katie Sugden on the soap opera, and the Bolton-born started to pursue her acting career when she was just in high school. Winward’s time on the show started in 2001 and in 2005 she took maternity leave but returned a year later.
Her character was killed off by her former lover and brother in law, Robert Sugden.

In 2015 it was announced she would appear in the drama Prey, as the daughter of officer David Murdoch.
