When Millea first appeared on Emmerdale in 1989, that was his first time he rose to fame. he played the role of Pete Whiteley, who had been involved in a very controversial affair with a teenager while still married.
Before his time on the show, Jim played in Hollyoaks. He gained his professional acting skills at the Rose Burford College of Speech and Drama and later on stage.

After he left the Dales, Millea turned to the soap opera world when in 2000 he appeared in The Return of Nick Cotton, an EastEnders spinoff.
This wasn’t so successful but still gave him a fun experience.
