Deena played the role of Viv Hope on Emmerdale from 1993 to 2011, making her one of the longest running actresses to be on the show. When Payne took a break from the show in 2007, the writers explained her departure by making her character sentenced to three years in prison.
She returned briefly in 2008. Deena also appeared in one episode True Crime. In her past, the actress used to be a backup singer for her then boyfriend, Alan Price as well as being a member of the girl band, Cats U.K.
