Karen and Richard were still trying hard to break into the music industry, and they believed that they may have gotten it in 1967 when they joined with four students from Long Beach State University to start a new band called Spectrum.
The band became a huge hit in the Hollywood area, becoming regular appearances in various different posh Hollywood nightclubs. However, the band ended up dissolving due to irreconcilable differences in 1968. However, This did not deter Richard and Karen from continuing to make music.
