One of the things that people do not realize when writing about the band is that the word “the” in the Carpenters is not meant to be capitalized. Instead, Richard and Karen wanted to their band to be a one word name, something they felt was a lot more hip and cool for that time, much like how the band Bread was simply that – Bread.
Therefore, when referring to the musical group, it is more correct to write their name as the Carpenters.
