Once the news of what happened broke out and reached the rescuers, a liner named Carpathia arrived at the horrific scene and took on board around 700 passengers.
Not all of the ‘lucky’ ones made it to the boat, but those who survived used the lifeboats to row towards the ship. Carpathia later conveyed the survivals to New York, which was Titanic’s destination to begin with.
