Before a time when everyone knew Gene Hackman for his many accolades and roles in hit films, he was in the United States Marine Corps. He enlisted when he was 16 years old, lying about his age order to enlist.
He served for four and a half years in the position of field radio operator. He was stationed in China, followed by Hawaii and Japan. After his time in the Marines, Hackman made a name for himself in films like Enemy of the State, The Firm, The French Connection, and Bonnie and Clyde.
