Henry Fonda, unlike many of the other men and women on this list, joined the military service AFTER he already made a name for himself. Fonda joined the United States Navy during World War II.
He stated that he didn’t want to act in a movie about a war when a real one was actually happening outside the borders of his country. Like the real man he is, he enlisted and went to fight the real battle.
