Look, we’re not trying to freak you out, but dogs like squeaky toys for a relatively morbid reason. You may already know this, but it’s an appeal to thousands of years of instincts bred into doggies. Dogs were originally bred to catch prey, and the little squeak they hear when they bite into their favorite toy reminds them of a small animal making a noise when they catch it. Even though they may not be out hunting every day, they still get some satisfaction from something as simple as a squeak.
