It seems as though everyone in Gossip Girl was originally meant to be played by another actor because this was also the case for Dan Humphrey. While everyone knows that Penn Badgley was the perfect choice in the end, he wasn’t the first choice for the producers.
Before the casting director decided on Penn, he was convinced that he was going to get Alden Ehrenreich onboard for the show. In his eyes, he was Dan, and he couldn’t see past this actor. However, Alden ultimately proved to be too short!
