[post_page_title]Raquel Welch – One Million Years B.C. [/post_page_title]
Today, 1966’s One Million Years B.C. is mostly remembered for one thing – Raquel Welch, and the fur bikini she wore that made her an international superstar and probably sold more than a few posters. Interestingly, most of the other cavewomen in the movie are dressed in modest rags. Welch’s Loana, though, fashioned herself something quite different – and it made her an icon.
“It was the costume,” she said in an interview, “it was wham, bam, and woah!” At the time, sadly, she wasn’t enjoying herself very much, as she’d suffered from tonsillitis during filming and was on so much penicillin that she felt like she was about to croak.
