While modern comic book fans look down their noses at the 1966 Batman TV show, they should never forget it saved the character. It was so popular, in fact, that months after the first season ended a theatrical movie was released, starring almost the entire regular cast.
Front and center was, of course, Burt Ward, playing Robin. The producers’ decision to have him appear wearing his comic-accurate short shorts didn’t, uh, sit well with him. In fact, he called it the most uncomfortable thing he’d ever worn. Also, he was wearing hotpants – why were his legs also in tights?
