In 2006, she was awarded with the Golden Globe for Best Actress in a Television Series, starring in the HBO drama Weeds, and beat out 4 cast members of The Desperate Housewives for the honor. In 2007, Mary adopted a baby girl from Ethiopia, and in 2013 she was ceremoniously honored for her work with a non-profit organization, Hope North, that aids and educates children enduring the struggle of the Uganda War.
