Marisa was introduced to us as Maggie on The Cosby Show spin-off A Different World. However, it wasn’t until 1992 that she broke out with a role in My Cousin Vinny. Her acting in that film got major buzz, winning her an Academy Award for Best Supporting Actress. Other than film and television, Tomei also found her love of theater. In 1998 she performed in the Naked Angels Theater Company’s play Wait Until Dark.

The ever-blossoming leading lady is 51 years old today (hard to believe, we know), and her work in films has gotten better and better with time. Her role in the 2000 film What Women Want, acting alongside Mel Gibson, had us laughing along with her overly-dependent character, her 2008 role in The Wrestler, got her a third Oscar nomination, and her two latest films, Captain America: Civil War, and Spider Man: Homecoming, will undoubtedly introduce her to yet another generation.
