Hanna couldn’t get the mother’s blood-curdling screams out of her head. The mother’s fear for her son was infectious, and it got people’s attention. The mother didn’t feel confident enough to jump, and she was probably too scared and stunned that it rooted her to the spot.
So, all she could do was watch as her son was trying to breathe while being dragged off, deeper and deeper, by the sea’s current. She must have been so desperate, that seeing someone try and save her son must have filled her with a small amount of hope. But things were about to get worse.
