It is not a secret that the reason the tragedy of Titanic was on such a large scale had to do with the fact that there were not enough life boats on board. There were 20 total life boats on board the ship that could hold no more than 1,178 individuals. Sadly, that number is only one-third of the population on the ship. Even more shocking was to learn that that was legal at the time.
