The baker of the ship, Charles Joughin, survived two hours in the freezing water thanks to the fact that he was as drunk as a skunk, truly. He was pulled to safety after the two hour period by a lifeboat that came back. When Charles got on the boat he was in relatively good condition, which he credits to the amount of whisky he drank before being in the water which elevated his body temperature enough for him to survive.
