While it hurts us immensely to know that so many lives were lost on board the ship, there is little mention of the dogs that perished during the ship’s sinking. There were nine dogs on board the ship at the time of the sinking. Two of the dogs made it out with their lives while the rest died. The smaller dogs were the ones that were saved, but a dog like this one with Captain Smith, was too big to be allowed on the life boat.
