In a brilliant move on behalf of actress, Charlize Theron, she accepted the role of Aileen Wuornos in the film Monster. Theron gained weight for the role, 30 lbs to be exact, but it was the makeup department who truly made Theron into Wuornos. Theron went through a series of treatments for her hair to make them look as unattractive as possible, while her eyebrows were bleached and partially shaved, prosthetics added to her eyelid and fake teeth put in. The makeup artist went on record as saying, “We had all those things together but she still had this creamy, poreless, gorgeous skin. With makeup, I had to create the years of abuse to her skin – all the freckles and capillaries and sun damage – either through hand-painting or working with an airbrush.”
