Don’t be fooled by the appearance of Pekingese dogs. Despite looking really silly and basically being big balls of fluff, they have an ancient history dating back 2,000 years to imperial China, as their name attests – Peking being the previous Western name for Beijing. These days, it seems they have not left their royal roots behind, as they are still dignified little things that prefer the company of adults to that of children. They are also quite stubborn, and are absolutely sure they’re actually in charge.
