Before season four of HBO’s The Wire went into production, actor Dominic West asked the show’s producers to reduce his role as Jimmy McNulty so that he could spend more time with his family. During this time, actor Ray Winstone told the Digital Spy that he passed on the role originally for the very same reason. He told reporters that he did not want to spend seven months away from his family to shoot the series in Baltimore.
