Comedian Sandra Bernhard auditioned for the role of cynical Miranda Hobbes on HBO’s romantic comedy series SATC. She passed on the role after they offered her less money than her rate. She famously told Howard Stern that she thought the script was “terrible” and she didn’t want to work with star Sarah Jessica Parker. Cynthia Nixon played Miranda instead. Nixon won an Emmy for her portrayal and was nominated for an additional four Golden Globes during her run on the show.
